چکیده

The objective of this work was to evaluate the potential biohydrogen production in agro-industrial residues, which were soft drink wastewater (SDW), corn steep liquor (CSL), cheese whey (CW), and expired Guaraná drink, using one model strain Clostridium beijerinckii ATCC 8260 newly isolated butyricum DEBB-B348. residues characterized, all them contained significant concentrations carbohydrates such as glucose, fructose, lactose, maltose, case CSL CW they also amino acids. After performing subsequent experimental designs, factors concentration, fermentation time for C. beijerinckii, concentration (p ? 0.05), with R2 0.950 0.895, respectively. maximum hydrogen volume 18.5 ± 1.68 mL 27.4 1.84 each strain, It is noteworthy high yield produced (235 H2/g COD removed) (310 removed). noted that and/or CW-based culture media do not need be supplemented cysteine-HCl. These results indicate a process utilizing less expensive substrates.

Biotechnological Production of Xylitol from Agro-Industrial Wastes

Xylitol is a polyalcohol of five carbon atoms which is widely used in the food and chemical industry. Its interest is due to the sweetening power similar to that of sucrose. However, it has been shown that the use of xylitol as a sweetener is better due to its anticariogenecity, tooth rehardening and remineralization properties. It is suitable as sugar substitute for diabetics, and it limits th...

Biohydrogen Production from Renewable Organic Wastes

Objectives • Investigate different strategies for selective growth of hydrogen-producing bacteria (e.g., heat selection and pH control, hydraulic loading) in a mixed culture environment. • Determine the biokinetics parameters of hydrogen-producing microorganisms. • Identify and quantify hydrogen-producing bacterial population in a complex microbial community background using nucleic acid based ...

Valorization of agro-industrial wastes towards the production of rhamnolipids.

In this work, oil mill wastewater (OMW), a residue generated during olive oil extraction, was evaluated as an inducer of rhamnolipid production. Using a medium containing as sole ingredients corn steep liquor (10%, v/v), sugarcane molasses (10%, w/v) and OMW (25%, v/v), Pseudomonas aeruginosa #112 produced 4.5 and 5.1g of rhamnolipid per liter in flasks and reactor, respectively, with critical ...

Biohydrogen Production from Hydrolysates of Selected Tropical Biomass Wastes with Clostridium Butyricum

Biohydrogen production has received widespread attention from researchers in industry and academic fields. Response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to evaluate the effects of several key variables in anaerobic fermentation of glucose with Clostridium butyrium, and achieved the highest production rate and yield of hydrogen. Highest H2 yield of 2.02 mol H2/mol-glucose was achieved from 24 h...

Butanol production from wheat straw hydrolysate using Clostridium beijerinckii.

In these studies, butanol (acetone butanol ethanol or ABE) was produced from wheat straw hydrolysate (WSH) in batch cultures using Clostridium beijerinckii P260. In control fermentation 48.9 g L(-1) glucose (initial sugar 62.0 g L(-1)) was used to produce 20.1 g L(-1) ABE with a productivity and yield of 0.28 g L(-1 )h(-1) and 0.41, respectively. In a similar experiment where WSH (60.2 g L(-1) ...
